The title comes next. Many publishers come up with gruesome titles. Why? When winning championships are so simple to model? Take a look at what the best-selling eBooks and CDs are titled and try something similar. It’s not complicated. Cover comes in third. Art, design, and branding Call it anything you want. Is it appealing to you? How can you expect anybody else to purchase the book if you don’t buy it yourself?

Those are the three primary requirements for success on the how-to side of publishing. Are you ready for the real deal now? What’s the big one? Before explaining what it is, Christian describes how a long-winded email he received inspired it. Victim mindset. He’d tried everything else and nothing had worked. He’d tried everything. He just had one shot left and was debating whether or not to risk it on audiobooks.

Christian had to correct him. He responded with a 22-minute movie, claiming that until you’re on your deathbed, you have all the bullets you need. This is merely a commercial transaction. It’s not a life or death situation. You can fail an infinite number of times and yet succeed. So the key to generating $10,000 a month (or whatever amount you want) on Amazon is to “never stop working toward that objective until you [bleeping] accomplish it.”

“So if you say you have one final shot,” Christian rages, “you automatically have a zero percent chance.” That’s because everything you do for the first time will never work.” Your expectations will be unattainable if you leave no room for mistake. The one thing you can count on in entrepreneurship is that you’ll have to wade through a lot of nonsense to get to the top.

People leap into something online, and when they don’t see fast results, they say things like, “I knew it, I knew it was a scam.” “This isn’t working.” The number one thing holding everyone back is their entrenched attitude. “In our AIA program, we’ve worked with thousands of students,” Christian explains, “and a lot of folks come in expecting to try something once and have it go flawlessly.”

“However, the fact is that you will fail the first time you try anything. It’ll be a disaster. And here’s the best part: it’s just OK. You’ll get 5% better at it if you try it again. Then you repeat the process. Perhaps by the third book, you’ll have gained some traction.” The Mikkelsen twins are firm believers in personal responsibility. It’s all because of you. The excellent, the terrible, and the downright ugly. Simply own it. Make the necessary changes. Continue on. It’s not appealing, but it’s the reality.
