What Tom means is that back in the day, you could just go to Alibaba and put in any term, purchase a thousand units from a Chinese manufacturer, send it to Amazon, sell it, mark it up a little, and actually earn money. There were just not many merchants on Amazon at the time. You just needed to turn up.

What if you followed the same half-baked strategy today, in the year 2022? You may as well avoid Amazon FBA entirely. Simply save your money, invest in equities, and maybe invest a little amount in cryptocurrency. Amazon FBA vendors are significantly more savvy these days. There are tools, software, and teams that have mastered every stage that have been put in place years ago. Every niche’s best sellers have hundreds of reviews and a lot of momentum.

So, what should you concentrate on if you want to conduct Amazon FBA in 2022 and beyond? Tom says there are two things. The first is your demographic goal. Who are your clients? Why are they looking for something like yours? And how can you communicate directly to their problems so they realize your product is a good fit? The second question is, how can you better service these customers? How do you differentiate yourself from the hundreds of identical goods that appear in Amazon’s search results?

If you nail those two elements, no external variables (such a plant closing or a supplier screwing you) will be able to stop you from succeeding. “Don’t wish things were easy, wish you were better,” as the self-help adage goes. As a company owner, you shouldn’t be wishing for problems to never arise; instead, you should prepare for them and concentrate on being a great problem-solver. What’s more, guess what? The more issues you solve, the more confident you will be when new ones arise.

“So look, I don’t believe the opportunity is dead in any way,” Tom summarizes. “Today, more individuals are purchasing on Amazon than ever before. Find out who your consumers are, why they’re in the market, what issue they’re attempting to address, what needs they have, and what their underlying emotions are. Then, as an Amazon FBA company owner, you must develop a distinct product offering that will stand out in the marketplace.”
