According to Jeff Lerner, you should stop concentrating on what you want and instead work on being the sort of person who would achieve that objective regardless of the circumstances. It’s about being yourself, not worrying about the outcome. This is accomplished by Jeff and his Entre Institute members mastering the three Ps: physical, personal, and professional. This plan, or framework, if you prefer, ensures your achievement without jeopardizing other aspects of your life. So, for example, you may become a billionaire without abandoning your children.

Physical is concerned with the development, optimization, and maintenance of the mind and body. All ties with direct links and influence are considered personal. Professional relationships are those that include indirect connections and influence, or your value exchange with the rest of the world. It’s critical that you grasp the order: physical first, personal second, and professional third. Let’s return to the rich scenario. If you take care of your body first, Jeff argues, you’ll be more likely to get there.

The same is true for any other objective. It might be a better marriage or being a more engaged parent. If you take care of your health (and mind) first, you’ll be more likely to succeed. It all boils down to energy management. You can’t outthink, outperform, or out-do your energy level in any way. That is why one’s health must always come first. Personal comes second because you don’t deserve to be successful professionally if you can’t manage your connections with your family and friends (if you can’t regulate how others feel when they come into touch with you).

“How on earth are you going to touch seven million people all over the globe if you can’t give value to positively impact seven individuals near to you?” Jeff shouts. It’s just illogical. I don’t believe you’ve earned the right to demand value [money] in return for what you do on the market front if you can’t take care of your house.” When Jeff’s wife’s parents were diagnosed with cancer and died, he developed his three P framework. There was no way to influence the result with money. Physically, of course.

Jeff recognizes that it’s easier said than done. You’ll continually be presented with reasons to put one or more Ps on hold. You’ll reason, “Oh, I’ll forgo my exercise today because I really need to finish this sale.” Or I’ll work all weekend and neglect my kids, promising that once the money arrives, I’ll spend a lot more time with them. When this occurs, you must take a step back and consider the wider picture. If you’re inclined to take shortcuts, you’re probably too close to the action.

When you think about it, there’s never a solid reason to shortchange yourself physically, emotionally, or professionally if you’re playing the long game. So, with that in mind, how can you maximize all three? There are three simple steps to follow. One, you must remove roadblocks, or objects that prevent you from completing tasks in each region. Two, you must split down each P into its constituent parts so that you may work on each one separately. Third, you must create KPIs for each component.

Then it’s only a matter of following through, monitoring your key performance indicators, and making the appropriate modifications when you fall behind. More details may be found in Jeff’s YouTube video. It’s refreshing to see a guru advocate for a holistic approach to business. Because his hustle-your-face-off method will result in burnout for most people, as well as a larger bank account with a slew of negative side effects for others. Sure, there are a few Gary Vees out there who can work 80 hours a week and still enjoy life, but they’re the exception.
